Transport links

The municipalities of the administrative community lay along the state roads L 2146 and L 1028, which, coming from Gotha-Uelleben, pass through Emleben, Petriroda, (from here L 1028) Hohenkirchen, Herrenhof and Georgenthal. About Schwabhausen and the B247 , the community was with the A 4 connected. The B 88 ( Eisenach - Jena - Naumburg ) runs through Georgenthal. A railway line from Tambach-Dietharz cuts Georgenthal and Emleben and continues to Gotha. These connections are advantageous for the commercial settlements in Emleben, Herrenhof and Hohenkirchen.

Apart from the state-approved resort town of Georgenthal, which has retained the appearance of a health resort at the beginning of the 20th century, the other places have a lovable, village-like character. Due to the good infrastructure, new, attractive residential areas have developed in the towns.

The municipalities

history

The administrative community was founded on February 6, 1992. The municipality of Emleben joined on April 9, 1994. The municipality of Nauendorf , which originally also belonged to the administrative community , was incorporated into Georgenthal on April 1, 1999 .

On December 31, 2019, the member communities Georgenthal, Hohenkirchen and Petriroda merged with the neighboring community of Leinatal to form the rural community Georgenthal. This became a fulfilling community for Emleben and Herrenhof. The administrative community was dissolved at the same time.
