Early history to modern times

When a document from the year 1006 was found, the existence of the place "Imli" could be confirmed at that time. The mention on an even older document could not be proven. Originally Emleben was an agricultural village. The water systems of the Flößgraben , Leinakanal and their tributaries give the place its special note and are reflected in the coat of arms. Agricultural production was the main livelihood well into the 20th century. Until the middle of the 19th century, Emleben belonged to the upper county of Gleichen in the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and then to the District Office of Ohrdruf in the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha .

Time after the reunification

A well-established industrial area developed in the village after 1990, benefiting from the good transport links. The logistics site, which consists of towering warehouse buildings, is a landmark . In July 2006, the Emleben community celebrated its 1000th anniversary after the founding deed was found.
