Nauendorf is part of the rural community Georgenthal in the Gotha district in Thuringia .

The street village of Nauendorf is located at the foot of the northern roof of the Thuringian Forest, east of the core community Georgenthal and on the federal road 88 . This connects the district with Georgenthal. The transition to the Gotha arable land area begins at Bundesstraße 88 .

history

The village was first mentioned on June 28, 1209. The place belonged to the Georgenthal Monastery and after its dissolution came to the Georgenthal Office , founded in 1531 , which had belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha since 1640 . Nauendorf was affected by the persecution of witches from 1675 to 1689 . Five women got into witch trials . An old woman died in detention one day after being tortured, and two women were burned to death.

On April 1, 1999, Nauendorf was incorporated into the Georgenthal community. In 2009 the district had 460 inhabitants.
