The administrative community Schernberg was in the Thuringian Kyffhäuserkreis . Seven communities had come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The seat was Schernberg.

The administrative community was founded on June 10, 1992. The dissolution took place on December 31, 1995. With effect from January 1, 1996, the new community Schernberg was formed from the member communities, which in turn was incorporated into the city of Sondershausen on December 1, 2007 .
