Hohenebra is a district of the district town of Sondershausen in the Kyffhäuserkreis ( Thuringia ) and has about 600 inhabitants.

The place is on the northwestern edge of the Thuringian Basin on a southern branch of the Hainleite .

In the north of the village is Sondershausen , northeast Oberspier , southeast Niederspier and west Thalebra .

The protected linden trees are characteristic of the place.

history

Hohenebra is one of the oldest places of the Schwarzburg special houses subordination . The first documentary mention was made in 1128 in a document from Archbishop Adalbert of Mainz. The construction of the baroque church Gloria Deo began in 1724 and lasted 2 years, it was extensively renovated from 1991 to 1999.

The place was connected to the rail network in 1869 by the Wolkramshausen – Erfurt railway. This is where the branch line goes towards Ebeleben , which today only serves freight traffic and is threatened with closure. Today only the Hohenebra Ort stop, which was opened later, is used for passenger traffic in the direction of Nordhausen and Erfurt (line RE 55 of the DB Regio ).

From 1992 to 1995 the place belonged to the administrative community Schernberg and was incorporated into the community Schernberg on January 1, 1996. This in turn was incorporated into the city of Sondershausen on December 1, 2007.
