The Borntal is a nature reserve in the town of Allstedt in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0107 is 87.85  hectares . It is largely part of the FFH area "Borntal, wetland and heath near Allstedt". and the conservation area surrounded "Unstrut-Trias country." It has been under protection since May 1, 1961. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Mansfeld-Südharz.

The nature reserve is located southeast of Allstedt on the edge of the Ziegelroda Forest . It puts diverse, near-natural forest communities in the transition area from the Harz to the central German dry area under protection. The forest communities are formed on shady upper slopes as hornbeam and red beech forest . The herb layer is characterized by narrow-leaved groves, forest equestrian grass , true worm fern , lady fern and wood sorrel . Forest bluegrass can also be found in damp locations. Sessile oaks also grow on poor locations . On sunny upper slopes, the forest communities change into forest rennet - sessile oak-hornbeam forest . Here the herb layer is dominated by forest equestrian grass, two-leaved shade flowers and species of grove . On the lower slopes of herb-rich wood bedstraw-sessile oak-hornbeam forests increased with spotted lungwort , Stachys sylvatica , Common Haselwurz and spotted Arum , in damp hillside feet in small areas also moschatel - sycamore trees with hollow corydalis , Herb Paris , daffodils and yellow monkshood . In the valleys of the Borntal, the Winkelseggen- Ash forest grows thick.

The nature reserve is u. a. Habitat of different birds . So here are Central , gray , small and black woodpecker to be found, all of which also breed here. Further find z. B. Stock dove , common raven , red kite and honey buzzard suitable living conditions.

The nature reserve is almost completely surrounded by other forest areas. In the north it borders on agricultural land .
