The gypsum karst landscape of Pölsfeld is a nature reserve in the cities of Allstedt and Sangerhausen in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0164 is around 859  hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area "gypsum karst landscape Pölsfeld and Wide spot in the southern Harz" and to a large extent from the conservation area surrounded "resin and flood plains". The area has been under protection since 1996 (date of regulation: April 12, 1996). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Mansfeld-Südharz.

The nature reserve extends around Pölsfeld , a district of the city of Allstedt northeast of Sangerhausen in the Biosphere Reserve Karstlandschaft Südharz and Nature Park Harz / Saxony-Anhalt . It protects an area on the edge of the southern Harz Zechstein belt with a large number of significant karst phenomena . In the nature reserve, near-natural forest stands with beech forest communities , including lime beech forests and oak forests. In addition, coniferous wood stocks are also growing in the nature reserve. Gravel fields and rocky heaths can be found on sites exposed to the north, and dry and semi-arid grasslands and orchards on sites exposed to the south . Particularly in the east of the nature reserve, a dump landscape with numerous small dumps has emerged as a result of the earlier copper slate mining . Here are also heavy metal lawn and copses found.

Rare mushrooms , ferns in sinkhole walls and lichens on rocky knolls settle in the nature reserve . Species that are particularly worthy of protection are spotted arum , common daphne , Turkish lily , German fringed gentian , diptame , numerous types of orchids as well as deer-tongue fern and earth stars. The nature reserve is home to numerous birds , including the stock dove , middle woodpecker , black woodpecker and willow tit , which find their habitat in the forests, as well as wrynecks and red-backed shrimp as representatives of the semi-open landscapes. Amphibians are z. As by fire salamander , tree frog and various species of newts , reptiles by adder , slow worm , ringed and smooth snake represented. The tree hollows of the forests provide a habitat for various bat species , including the brown long-eared bat and the fringed bat . Other bat species find suitable habitat in the karst caves. The nature reserve is also a habitat for pine marten , badger , wildcat and dormouse, as well as various grasshoppers and butterflies .

Some open locations in the nature reserve, including the dry and semi-arid grasslands, are grazed with sheep for care. To the north and east are often forested areas, to the south and west mainly agricultural areas .

District road 2307 runs through the nature reserve. The southern Harz karst hiking trail begins a little east of Pölsfeld on federal road 86 . It runs via Pölsfeld to Obersdorf through the nature reserve.
