The old Stolberg (Saxony-Anhalt) and Grasburger Wiesen is a nature reserve in the municipality of Südharz in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0135 is around 28  hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area "Alter Stolberg and Heimkehle in the southern Harz". It is bordered to the west directly to the nature reserve "Alter Stolberg" in Thuringia and in places to the conservation area "resin and flood plains". The area has been under protection since 1995 (date of regulation: October 16, 1995). The "Alter Stolberg (Saxony-Anhalt)" nature reserve, which was designated in 1993, was incorporated into it. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Mansfeld-Südharz.

The nature reserve is located west of Rottleberode in the gypsum karst landscape of Südharzer Zechsteingürtels . It is part of the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park and the Karst Landscape South Harz Biosphere Reserve . The nature reserve protects a small part of the eastern flank of the Alter Stolberg ridge, located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, as well as the upstream leaching valley with wet grassland and still waters through which the Krebsbach, a tributary of the Thyra , flows . Furthermore, orchards are included in the nature reserve.

In the area of ​​the old Stolberg with its steep slopes , various forest communities grow thick. A karst beech forest, pronounced as a sedge- beech forest, is growing on the barren locations of the mountain . The steep slopes are occupied by Luzulo-beech forest, while on the lower slopes of ash sycamore - ravine forest is found. In the herb layer are u. a. Hepatica , daphne , arum , Turkish lily and deer tongue fern can be found. Mushrooms , ferns and lichens also settle on the gypsum karst sites.

The valley area included in the nature reserve is characterized in the west by extensively used wet grassland, which is followed by remains of alder forests and the still waters of Fauler Teich and the castle pond of Rottleberode with swampy bank zones and a high proportion of reed beds to the east .

The still waters are habitat for a species-rich dragonfly and amphibian fauna , including newts and fire salamanders . In the area of ​​the castle pond live u. a. Marsh harrier , great crested grebe , pond rail and pond warbler . Red- backed red backs and goldhamers are also native to the area. In addition, the reserve offers various bats , reptiles such as slow-worm , grass snake and forest lizard , pine marten , dormouse and badger a suitable habitat. Bullheads and brook lamprey live in the Krebsbach .

The nature reserve borders in the east and north on agricultural areas as well as on the place Rottleberode. The ruins of the Grasburg are located on the mountain in the Saxon-Anhalt part of the Old Stolberg .
