The Thyra is an 18 km long, north-westerly and orographically left tributary of the Helme in the Saxony-Anhalt district of Mansfeld-Südharz . It flows in the Harz and in the southern Harz foreland.

course

The Thyra arises in the Harz in the center of Stolberg in the Harz region through the confluence of the three mountain streams Große Wilde , Kleine Wilde and Lude . Initially it flows through Stolberg, after which some streams flow into it, and runs south through a narrow valley to Rottleberode , after which the Krebsbach flows into it. Here the Thyratal becomes quite wide and the Thyra turns from now on to the southeast. South of the Uftrungen , where the Haselbach joins, it becomes narrower and the Thyra flows from the Harz into the Goldene Aue in the southern Harz foreland . Here are Bösenrode and Berga crosses. Shortly afterwards the river flows directly below the main dam of the Kelbra dam into the Unstrut tributary Helme coming from the west .
