The Galgenberg and Fuchshöhlen is a nature reserve in the lake district of Mansfelder Land in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0111 is 36.85 hectares . It is part of the approximately 84 hectare FFH area “Dry grass slopes north of the Süßen See” and is part of the landscape protection area “Süsser See; Sweet and Salty Lake ”. The area has been under protection since 1967 (date of regulation: September 11, 1967). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Mansfeld-Südharz.

The nature reserve is located in the eastern Harz foreland northwest of Seeburg . It places a mosaic of dry and semi-arid grassland on the crack north of the Süßen See under protection. In the nature reserve, the slopes of the Riss are exposed mainly to the south and west. On the dry sites, u. a. Brachypodium pinnatum , Stemless tragacanth , Danish tragacanth , geese death , Low Sedge , cypress spurge , Steppenwolf milk , Hairy Vetch flags and Spring Adonis . Occasionally there is also German Ziest . Small areas of dry grass with real feather grass , Valais fescue, real dog's tongue , hedgehog and brown monkweed . In addition to the dry and semi-arid grasslands, there are rock corridors, xerothermal bushes and some bushy orchards .

Numerous bird species are native to the nature reserve , including wheatear , blackcap and sparrowhawk , red-backed red-backed killer , wryneck , goldhammer and green woodpecker . It is also a habitat for insects and small mammals .

The dry and semi-arid grasslands are mainly followed by agricultural areas . In the south, the nature reserve borders on a campsite and a weekend house area .
