The Veude is a river in the Indre-et-Loire department in the Center-Val de Loire region in France , which flows into the lowest Indre from the left after about 14 kilometers a total of about 14 kilometers west of the municipality of Avoine .

In the same canton of Chinon as them, a noticeably larger Veude flows into the Vienne .

Upper course

The main upper course of the Veude arises in the large forest area of the Forêt domaniale de Chinon a little south of the D 751, which crosses it in a straight line from northeast to southwest, opposite the La Bergeraie property of the municipality of Saint-Benoît-la-Forêt as a pond outlet at about 110  m or even a little down in the associated valley basin. The water flows east for a short time and then turns to north-north-west. After more than 2 km, where it has taken in some small tributaries, mainly from the right, the Veude reaches the eastern edge of the cleared island around the settlement area Le Châtelier of the municipality, whereupon it changes direction to the left again by about 90 °. Soon it crosses the main clearing island of the municipality in the north, past some small settlement areas. At Les Caves Perrières, it changes back into the forest, where a good kilometer later its only significant upper tributary, the Ruisseau du Guettier , comes to about 58  m from the left.

Ruisseau du Guettier

The Ruisseau du Guettier is a roughly equivalent upper course due to its not much shorter length and similar catchment area. It arises in the part of the large forest area still belonging to the municipality of Cravant-les-Côteaux at about 111  m and runs quite steadily northwest. After crossing over to the area of Saint-Benoît near the La Belasserie settlement, he first pulls a hose down the open corridor, later on the southwest edge of the municipality's main clearing island, for the last half a kilometer to the confluence with the right upper course westwards through the forest.

Underflows

The unified brook, which may initially be called after the Guettier, moves about a kilometer west and then changes to the edge of the corridor in the municipality of Huismes , where it immediately crosses under the Tours - Chinon railway line and passes the municipality's train station. Past the Les-Fontaines-d'Ozon settlement, it turns to the northwest in a slightly deepened, reforested terrain hollow, often only a hundred meters wide at the bottom, in which it splits into two arms several times. The longest of these sections, mostly running to the right in the hollow, is the Riasse here ; where it is still to the left, a drainage ditch over six kilometers long from the settlement center of Avoines in the west only supplies it with inconsistent water. The left run is then called on a following section up to its return at La Massonnière Le Douay . Immediately afterwards, at an old mill square , the stream finally divides into the left Veude and the right Riasse , which now run side by side for the last one and a half kilometers in the hollow forest. The Riasse is soon and until the confluence of Huismes on the right bank with Avoine on the left and flows after passing two ponds on the right bank at the local settlement area La Fosse au Brun, while the Veude in the area of Avoines at Le Moulin de l ' Arceau reaches the Indre at almost 36  m only a quarter of a kilometer after her from the left . About three kilometers down the river, the Indre itself then flows into the Loire at the Chinon nuclear power plant .

The upper reaches as well as the lower reaches to Les-Fontaines-d'Ozon are unstable.
