Soccer

history

VfB 08 Aachen was founded in 1908. It had its heyday in the 1920s, when it played several times as a participant in the top division for the West German soccer championship; the last appearance there succeeded the red and whites in the season 1931/32 .

After the Second World War , the Aacheners were able to briefly build on more successful times when, at the end of the 1949/50 season, they were promoted to the then third-rate Middle Rhine amateur league . The team stayed here until 1955; greatest success was the fifth place in the table in the 1953/54 season.

The VfB team played their last game of national importance in 1952 in the West German Cup against their big local rivals Alemannia Aachen , which they lost 5-0. However, you could win 4 of the total of 13 competitive games against Alemannia, with three draws and six defeats.

With the descent from the Middle Rhine amateur league at the end of the 1954/55 season, VfB 08 Aachen said goodbye to higher-class football and slipped into the district league C, the lowest division at the time.

present

In the 2014/15 season, VfB 08 Aachen qualified with a 3rd place in the district league D, season 5 for the promotion games in the district league C. After passing the promotion games, VfB has played in the district league again since the 2015/16 season C. The second team achieved the championship title of the district league D, season 1 in the 2015/16 season. However, the championship title was followed by direct relegation.

In addition, after many years the club has a youth department again, in which teams of all ages up to U17 are registered.

Venue

The Leo Vermeeren Stadium has around 500 standing places, a 400 meter synthetic track , as well as two long jump facilities and a pole vault facility . The specialty of the venue is its location. Although the facility is in the city, it is only surrounded by urban structures on the east side . The west side is surrounded by agriculture, and the Aachen forest is only a few 100 meters as the crow flies, which offers a contrast to the rest of the environment.

The club shares the training facilities and the stadium with the youth of the women's soccer department of Alemannia Aachen and the soccer department of the University Sports Club Aachen .
