The VfL Olympia 08 Duderstadt is a soccer club from the Lower Saxony city of Duderstadt . The club reached the finals for the Central German soccer championship several times in the late 1920s and early 1930s .

history

The club was founded on May 24, 1908 as FC Duderstadt 08 . On March 24, 1924, FC Duderstadt 08 merged with FC Spiel und Sport Duderstadt to form VfL 08 Duderstadt . Despite the location of the club in the province of Hanover , he played in the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs (VMBV). 1923/24 Duderstadt played a season in the first-class Gauliga Kyffhäuser , but had to relegate to the second division at the end of the season. In 1927, the association formed its own first-class football league for the Eichsfeld clubs, the Gauliga Eichsfeld , in which VfL Duderstadt also took part. The club dominated the league and was able to win all of the Gaume Championships held until 1933. Associated with the Gaume Championship was the qualification for the Central German football final . In these, however, Duderstadt could not keep up with the other Gaumeisters of the VMBV and was usually eliminated in the first round. In 1928/29 (3:11 against SV Preußen Langensalza ) and 1932/33 (1:13 against SC Erfurt ) there were even double-digit defeats. Only in 1931/32 was VfL Duderstadt able to survive the first round of the Central German football finals with a surprising 9: 7 win over SC Erfurt, Gaumeister of Northern Thuringia , but were just eliminated 3: 4 against SC Apolda in the second round out.

After the dissolution of the VMBV in 1933, the club was assigned to the Lower Saxony Football District, and Duderstadt could not advance into the first-class Lower Saxony Gauliga . After the club was re-established in August 1945, the football division played in the lower leagues of Lower Saxony. In 1967 it was promoted to the Lower Saxony Football Association , in which the club was able to stay for two years. Between 1981 and 1986, the club played in the Lower Saxony regional football league . On May 12, 1984, VfL 08 Duderstadt merged with SC Olympia Duderstadt to form VfL Olympia 08 Duderstadt . After the club was relegated from the district class after the 1999/00 season, the team was completely withdrawn from the game. For the 2000/01 season the new start took place in the 3rd district class. The club is currently still playing at the district level.
