The club for lawn sports Simmern 1921 eV is a German sports club based in Simmern / Hunsrück in the community of Simmern-Rheinböllen in the Rhein-Hunsrück district .
history
Soccer
post war period
The first football team was integrated into the second-class Rhineland regional league for the 1947/48 season . With 8:36 points, however, the team only reached the bottom of the table this season and thus quickly disappeared from the league. For the 1951/52 season , the team rose again to the state league, but after this season the state league was dissolved and the higher-placed clubs transferred to the new amateur league Rhineland. The VfR did not make this cut and therefore had to compete in the 2nd amateur league.
Current time
In the 2003/04 season the first team in the SG Soonwald / Simmern plays in the district league B in the district of Hunsrück / Mosel and took third place there with 43 points. Then with 49 points in the 2007/08 season, succeeded in the end after all the second place, so we went in the following season with 43 points in the District League A on. There then succeeded with 43 points at the end of the 2008/09 season, sixth place. A few seasons later, the championship and promotion to the district league succeed here as well. From the district league, however, it went down again in the first season with 29 points as the penultimate. Back in the district league A, the team finally placed ninth with 30 points. For the 2018/19 season, the team even had to relegate to the district league B. The SG still plays there to this day.
athletics
Dieter Weirich , who started for VfR, achieved fourth place in the final ranking in the triple jump at the German championships in 1965 over a distance of 14.98 m.
