Việt Trì is a city in Phú Thọ Province in Vietnam . It is part of the Đông Bắc Bộ region . In the 2009 census, the population of the city center was 99,147 (1999 census: 77,848). The district-free city of Việt Trì had a population of 202,700 in 2017. The city forms the capital of the province of Phu Thọ. The city is divided into 23 municipalities and wards and has the status of a provincial city of the 1st class. It has had town charter since 1962.
economy
Việt Trì is also the economic center of the province and is home to many industrial and service companies. It is one of the oldest industrial cities in North Vietnam. Viet Tri is located in the center of the Hải Phòng - Hanoi - Kunming economic corridor ( People's Republic of China ) and on the Hải Phòng-Hanoi-Kunming highway. It is also conveniently located for business travelers as the city is only 70 km from the capital Hanoi
