Vicenç Badalona Ballestar, born in 1929, studied at the La Lotja School of Art and the Academia Baixas in Barcelona. Among the best-known works of Ballestar are his cover pictures for the booklet series Gespenster-Krimi und Geisterjäger John Sinclair , invented in 1973 by the author Helmut Rellergerd alias Jason Dark . Over the decades, however, numerous other motifs and illustrations were created, including for the GF Unger western bestseller series , which, like the John Sinclair series, is also published by Bastei-Verlag .

Ballestar was a member of the Catalan Watercolor Painters Association and received the Medal of Honor from this association. In 1988 one of his pictures was taken to the City Museum of Nîmes , where he often exhibited alongside Madrid , Barcelona , Ceret and Collioure .

As with many Spanish artists, his works could initially be admired in collective exhibitions (in Spain and Italy). In addition to the German publishing house Bastei, he worked for the publishers Hale, Cleveland, Semic, Senic and Winthers and has already published numerous textbooks on painting and the art of painting in his home country Spain.

As an artist, he is represented with posters in the Danube Collection / Association of Austrian Graphic Artists.

His funeral took place on July 9, 2014 in the Tanatorio Sancho de Ávila cemetery in Barcelona. Ballestar was honorary president of the Agrupació d'Aquarel.
