Vicente Sánchez Gavito

Vicente Sánchez Gavito (born May 25, 1910 in Mexico City , † January 20, 1977 ) was a Mexican ambassador .

Life

Vicente Sánchez Gavito attended elementary school in the state of México and graduated from the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria in 1928 . On October 27, 1933, he completed his law studies at the Escuela Libre de Derecho with Francisco Javier Gaxiola .

Vicente Sánchez Gavito joined the foreign service in 1935. He was an advisor to the Comisión General de Reclamaciones entre México y los Estados Unidos , and from 1939 to 1943 he was a director in the North America Department in the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE).

Between 1944 and 1947 he was Counselor in the Embassy in Washington, DC , from 1947 to 1951 Director General in the Consular Department of the SRE, from 1951 to 1955 a member of the United Nations Tribunal for the Libya and Eritrea Question ( United Nations Tribunal , which governs the State formation in the former Italian colonies Libya and Eritrea) and from 1965 to 1970 Ambassador to Brazil. From 1970 to 1973 he was Ambassador to the Court of St James’s .

From 1974 to 1977 he was ambassador in Cologne . He was a friend and advisor to Foreign Minister Manuel Tello Macías .

He married Maria Murguia. He was the grandson of Indalecio Sanchez Gavito, a lawyer, and Antonio Beltran. His parents were Maria Piña Aguayo and Vicente Sánchez Gavito Beteta, a lawyer. His sister was María Antonieta Sánchez Gavito y Piña .
