Vicky Lane

Vicky Lane (actually Grace Patricia Rose Coghlan , born April 23, 1926 in Dublin , † August 1, 1983 in Broward County , Florida ) was an American film actress who was also active as a singer.

Live and act

Lane emigrated with her family first to Mexico, then to the United States. In Hollywood she got her first film roles around 1942 as a teenager; She became known for her role as an aviator in the horror film The Jungle Captive (1945, directed by Harold Young ). Supporting roles followed in films such as The Cisco Kid Returns (1945) and in later years appearances in TV series such as Dad's Army .

After a brief marriage with the film actor Tom Neal (1948-50) Lane married in 1953 the jazz musician and band leader Pete Candoli , with whom she had a daughter. Around 1953 she recorded several songs for the Sunset label, including "'S Wonderful" and "I Ain't Got Nothin' But the Blues", accompanied by Candoli, Jimmy Rowles , Joe Mondragon and Shelly Manne . Pete Candoli also arranged the song material for her only album, which she recorded with the Candoli Orchestra for Time Records in 1959, I Swing for You . Then she interpreted songs in a jazz- oriented style such as "Love Isn't Born (It's Made)", "My Romance", "The Song Is You" and "The Trolley Song". In 1958 the couple divorced; Lane left Hollywood in 1963 and lived in Florida.
