Victor-Oscar Guétin
Victor-Oscar Guétin (born March 17, 1872 in Saint-Denis , † November 1, 1916 in Sannois ) was a French painter.
From 1889 he studied at the École des beaux-arts de Paris with Jules Lefebvre , Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant and Tony Robert-Fleury .
After graduating from 1898, he took part in competitions for the Prix de Rome . His pictures brought him awards, but it was only the third time that he won the long-awaited main prize, which gave him a three-year stay from 1902 to 1905 in the Roman Villa Medici . He exhibited the paintings he created there in Paris. He received an honorable mention in the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français .
At the following exhibitions he received a third class medal in 1902 and a second class medal in 1908. In 1909 he won the Jean-Jacques Henner Prize for his painting “Après le bain” .
Victor Guétin served as a model for his friend Adolphe Déchenaud (1868–1928) for his painting “The Three Friends”.
During the First World War he was called to military service. He fell ill at the front and died at the age of 44.
