Victor Lwowski (born November 24, 1841 in Alt Karmunkau , district of Rosenberg , Upper Silesia ; † August 23, 1917 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German engineer and entrepreneur .

Life

In 1872 Lwowski, who had studied engineering in Berlin, founded the company Victor Lwowski, Maschinen- und Dampfkessel-Fabrik , in Halle an der Saale , which produced machines and equipment for distilleries and sugar factories for the sales regions Germany, Russia and Sweden.

Lwowski was the initiator and from 1879 to 1881 executive chairman of the board of the trade and industrial exhibition in 1881 in Halle , which was recognized as the largest economic exhibition in Germany in the 19th century and was one of the first and most relevant exhibitions of its kind in the German Empire .

Lwowski was a shaping figure in the economic and political life of the city of Halle: he was a city ​​councilor in Halle for sixteen years , he was a member of the board of trustees of the gas and water works and the tax assessment commission, honorary commercial judge , freemason and member of the supervisory board of the Kröllwitz paper mill.

Lwowski was chairman of the Thuringian district association of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) from 1883 to 1887 , and in 1890 he became a board member of the VDI. In 1891, 1894 and 1895 he was the first chairman (today's name: "President") of the VDI.

With his wife Bianca Charlotte Lwowski geb. Lüdicke (born February 6, 1849 in Köthen, Anhalt; † February 12, 1906 in Halle (Saale)) he had two sons ( Hermann Lwowski , Walter Lwowski ) and four daughters.
