The Vidova Gora ( gora = mountain, literally Croatian for Veits -Berg; see Vid ) on the island of Brač in central Dalmatia ( Croatian Adriatic) is 778 m. i. J. the highest mountain of all Croatian islands .
The summit offers a wide view to the southeast to the west of the neighboring island of Hvar and other Dalmatian islands .
The best starting point for a mountain hike on the Vidova Gora is the seaside resort of Bol , which is known for the Zlatni Rat ( Golden Horn ) headland and to which speedboats run daily from Split . The ascent on the path laid out in several bends takes 2 to 2½ hours. Just before the summit, you pass the parking lot at the end of a small road that leads close to the mountain from the north. From there, the highest point can be reached on foot in a few minutes.
On the undulating plateau in the north-east of the mountain is a small airfield , which during the Croatia war was built when the fighting to the nearby city of Dubrovnik the tourism brought to a standstill.
