Viktor Apfelbeck
Viktor Apfelbeck (born April 18, 1859 in Eisenerz, Hzgt. Styria , † May 1, 1934 in Sarajevo ) was an Austro-Yugoslav entomologist and museum curator .
After working as a forester in Ludbreg (today Croatia ), he came to Sarajevo in 1887, where he also worked as a forester, then from 1890 until his retirement in 1925 as curator of the Bosnian-Hercegovinian State Museum . There he put on an extensive collection of insects native to Southeast Europe . He is the author of numerous insectology articles in specialist journals and discovered several new species, including several Southeastern European members of the Phyllobius weevil genus .
