Viktor Siedek

Vik (c) tor Siedek (born March 19, 1856 in Napajedl , Moravia ; † January 26, 1937 in Vienna ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Siedek attended grammar school in Hungarian-Hradisch, today's Uherské Hradiště, and studied at the Technical University in Vienna from 1873 to 1880. He interrupted his studies in 1878 to take part as a first lieutenant in the occupation - according to the Berlin Congress - of Bosnia and Herzegovina . From 1882 to 1884 he was an intern at Gustav von Korompay , later at Fellner & Helmer . In 1884 he became a freelance architect in Vienna and until 1888 he shared an office with Carl Hofmeier (1858–1934). He was buried at the Hietzingen cemetery .

family

Viktor Siedek's grandfather was a master weaver, his father, Peter Karl Siedek (1815–1906), a trained technician who, among other things, built and managed sugar factories. His older brother, Oskar Siedek (1853–1934), was a club official, bank clerk and is considered a pioneer and trailblazer for cremation in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy . His younger brother, Richard Siedek (1859–1948), was a Ministerialrat and from 1913 to 1918 head of the section for hydraulic engineering.
