Viktor Sternad

Viktor Sternad (born September 23, 1921 in Brno ( Moravia , Czechoslovakia ); † July 16, 2001 in Wiesbaden ) was a German textile engineer .

Live and act

Viktor Sternad was born in Brno and grew up in Katharinberg near Reichenberg (Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia). Both places were textile centers in the Bohemian-Moravian region at that time. His parents came from families of cloth makers, the father was director of a fine cloth factory in Katharinberg.

After his return from captivity, Viktor Sternad supported the development of his father's cloth factory (carded yarn spinning and weaving mill ) in Krautheim / Jagst before starting his studies at the textile engineering school in Aachen . After completing his studies, he took over the technical management of the family business "Textilfabrik Viktor Sternad" in Krautheim / Jagst for 13 years as a qualified engineer .

From 1963, Sternad was initially a lecturer and later a student and construction officer at the State Engineering School for Textile Technology in Lambrecht / Palatinate . He passed on his extensive theoretical and practical experience to textile engineering students who came from a large number of countries of origin. From 1971 he was a lecturer in the field of " spinning " in the textile technology department at the University of Applied Sciences of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate , Kaiserslautern department, today's University of Kaiserslautern . In addition, Sternad taught numerous accompanying subjects such as technical drawing , factory systems, occupational safety and binding technology. In 1974 he was appointed professor . He was vice dean of the department for eight years . As chairman of the funding committee, Sternad has been committed to student funding based on the Honnef model and BAföG for many years . As a “doctoral supervisor” he supervised the doctorates of two university assistants abroad. In 1982 Prof. Sternad worked for a semester at the University of Izmir ( Turkey ) on the occasion of a teaching assignment . In 1986 he retired at the age of 65.
