The Villa Bonte is a building in Darmstadt .

Architecture and history

The villa , named after the client, the Berlin banker Felix Bonte, was moved into in 1888. Bonte himself only moved from Berlin to his retirement home in Darmstadt in 1900 .

The architect of the property is not known. Stylistic details point to the architect Gustav Jacobi . According to tradition, Bonte designed the villa himself and built it with the help of a building contractor .

With the exception of the garden, the villa is quite well preserved.

Among the distinctive details of the villa include the elaborate facade decorated with cornices , consoles and parapet elements made of red sandstone , the distinctive roof landscape with turrets, resting on wooden consoles, as well as several images facade below the eaves .

Stylistically, the massive -looking building with its extended slate-covered roof belongs to the historicism phase . The contrast between the plastered facade and the natural stone that divides the two-story building is striking .

Monument protection

For architectural and city history reasons, Villa Bonte is a cultural monument .
