Villa Vilaque is a village in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Vilaque is the fourth largest town in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Pucarani in the province of Los Andes on the right bank of a tributary to the Río Pallina , which flows over the Río Catari into the southeast section of Lake Titicaca . The village is located at an altitude of 3952  m on the Bolivian Altiplano , 30 km southeast of Lake Titicaca.

Vilaque is located on the Bolivian plateau between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east.

The mean average temperature of the region is 8 ° C, the annual precipitation is about 600 mm. The region has a distinct daytime climate, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 7 ° C in July and 11 ° C in December. the monthly precipitation is between less than 10 mm in the months of June and July and close to 100 mm from December to February.

Transport network

Vilaque is located at a distance of 30 kilometers by road northwest of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz the highway Ruta 2 leads via El Alto in a north-westerly direction to Villa Vilaque and from there on via Batallas and Huarina to Copacabana on Lake Titicaca. A dirt road branches off to the west in Vilaque, which leads to the provincial capital Pucarani , 25 kilometers away .
