Vilmos Krén

Vilmos Krén (born October 30, 1937 in Budapest ) is a German landscape architect of Hungarian origin.

From 1953 to 1955 he attended the technical center for agriculture and horticulture in Eszterháza ( Fertőd ), Hungary , where he obtained his university entrance qualification. After his escape from Hungary in 1956, he studied at the Technical University of Hanover , Department of Land Care at the Faculty of Horticulture and Land Culture, where he received his diploma in 1966.

Following his work in the Lower Saxony State Administration Office, Nature Conservation and Landscape Management in Hanover, in 1971 he entered into a partnership with the newly founded planning group Bödeker, Boyer, Wagenfeld and Partner in Düsseldorf and took over the management of the landscape planning / green space department.

In addition to his work as a freelance landscape architect, he was a lecturer for green space and landscape planning at the University of Essen from 1978 to 1983 .

From 1991 until his retirement in 2002 he had his own office under the name “Environmental and Landscape Planning” in Mettmann and Hilden .

Until his retirement in 2002, he was a member of the Association of German Landscape Architects (BDLA) and of the NRW Chamber of Architects .

His areas of work included landscape plans, planning for open space development, environmental impact studies, ecological planning, landscape conservation specialist contributions and implementation plans as well as open space plans.

His work includes the Thumamah Nature Park in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia, and environmental impact studies and landscape maintenance plans for the A 46 and A 57 .

In 1973, together with his partners Richard Bödeker, Armin Boyer, Horst Wagenfeld and Klaus Steinhauer, he was awarded the sponsorship prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for young artists in the field of architecture .

In 1976 the group received the Rosenthal Studio Prize.

In 1989 he and his partners received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for Islamic architecture for the Diplomatic Quarter - Riyadh project .

Vilmos Krén is married and has two children. He lives in Germany and Hungary.
