history

Salarun or Satalarun , 1322 Vilsaltlaren , 1334 Satlern molendinum , 1438 Vilsattlern dy mul was probably built in the 10th century, when the road systems were expanded at the time of the Hungarian invasions.

A legend reports that King Ludwig the Bavarian , out of gratitude for his victory in the Battle of Mühldorf, after a happy fall, sacrificed his body horse, including the precious saddle and bridle, for a new band, which was therefore given the name Sattling.

The church in Vilssattling was an imperial court church, as it was laid out as imperial property at old river crossings and imperial roads. It is under the patronage of St. Martin, who after Karl Bosl is the Frankish imperial saint par excellence. The churches in Geisenhausen and Wolferding were also Reichshof churches , which had a special meaning as a symbol of royal power and politics.

In 1506, Vilssattling was confirmed under the name of the Vilsweber as Hofmark owned by the Leberskirch family. The Leberskirch family died out in 1521, and Vilssattling, along with the two other court brands Lichtenhaag and Leberskirchen, came into the hands of the keeper of Biburg ( Vilsbiburg ), Wolfgang Stockheimer. In 1591 the three court brands came to the Visler, in Leberskirchen including Vilssattlings, unlike in Lichtenhaag but only as feudal vassals of the elector. Nevertheless, the Visler, who were court lords until 1650, also acted here as court lords. The Everhard followed the Visler until 1760. In 1752 Vilssattling had 14 properties. After that the Hofmarkskomplex belonged to the Hofmarkschloss Seyboldsdorf.

After the community was formed, Vilssattling was part of the Lichtenhaag community and was incorporated into the Gerzen community on May 1, 1978.

When the old wooden bridge over the Kleine Vils partially collapsed, it was demolished and a new prestressed concrete bridge was built in 2008.
