Vincent Bochdalek

Vincent Alexander Bochdalek (born February 11, 1801 , † February 3, 1883 in Leitmeritz ) was a Czech anatomist . Bochdalek discovered a number of anatomical structures and malformations that today bear his name.

Life

Bochdalek received his doctorate in Prague in 1833 , after which he was professor of anatomy at Prague University for several decades. In 1874 he retired and moved his residence to Leitmeritz in northern Bohemia. His son, Victor Bochdalek (1835–1868), also became a well-known doctor.
