Vincenzo Zubranic

Vincenzo Zubranić (born January 28, 1802 in Boscanuova , Istria , then Austrian Empire , † November 15, 1870 in Dubrovnik ) was a Roman Catholic priest and bishop of Dubrovnik .

Life

Vincenzo Zubranić was on March 13, 1825 deacon and on March 20, 1825 priests ordained.

With an imperial decree of December 14, 1853 he was appointed Bishop of Kotor . This appointment was confirmed by Pope Pius IX. on April 7, 1854. He was consecrated on October 15, 1854 by the Bishop of Dubrovnik, Toma Jedrlinić . On January 29, 1856, Emperor Franz Joseph I appointed him Bishop of Dubrovnik; this in turn confirmed Pope Pius IX. on June 19, 1856. As Bishop of Dubrovnik he was, according to an apostolic letter of September 12, 1839 from Pope Gregory XVI. also Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Trebinje-Mrkan . He was the council father of the First Vatican Council .

Zubranić died at the age of almost sixty-nine, in the forty-sixth year of priesthood and 16 years in the episcopate, in Dubrovnik and was buried there.
