The passenger ship Vineta was built in 1962 in the Cologne shipyard GmbH & Co. Schiffbau KG, E. Berninghaus in Cologne . The ship was named after the Erft , an almost 106.6 km long, south-western and orographically left tributary of the Rhine in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). The sister ship is called Düssel .

history

The ship was on the Rhine for decades as a day trip ship for the Weisse Flotte Düsseldorf . In August 2006 it was sold and transferred on its own keel to the Georg Placke shipyard in Aken on the Elbe. From there it was brought overland to Bitterfeld on the Goitzsche , the “Bitterfeld Sea”, and on September 16, 2006 it was baptized with the name Vineta .
