Vinni (born February 3, 1976 in Arendal , Norway ; real name Øyvind Sauvik ), also Vincent "Vinni" Vagabond , is a Norwegian singer and rapper . He has been one half of the hip-hop duo Paperboys since 1998 .

biography

Together with Ole Aleksander Halstensgård, Vinni has been part of the Norwegian hip-hop project Paperboys since 2002. The two had several top ten hits. Vinni has been doing solo projects since 2009.

In 2009 Vinni took part in the television show Det store korslaget , in which the participating musicians led a team from their respective home communities and competed against each other. Vinnis group from Kolbotn reached number 5. As a result of the TV show, the Paperboys song Lonesome Traveler became so popular that the original entered the charts shortly afterwards and stayed in the Norwegian Top 20 for 24 weeks. With 4 times platinum it was the most successful Norwegian single of the year.

Then Sauvik started a project called Vinni & the Vagabonds , with which he released the album Happily Lost in 2010 .

Vinni had another television appearance in January 2012 on the program Hver gang vi møtes . Seven Norwegian musicians met there. Each episode was dedicated to one of them and the other six sang their own interpretations of one of his songs. In episode 1, Vinni sang Sommerfuggel i vinterland (Butterfly in Winterland) by the songwriter Halvdan Sivertsen . His hip-hop version of the 25-year-old ballad about immigrants in Norway became a huge hit and went on to top the charts for five weeks. In the final episode, he then interpreted Godmorgen Norge from Øystein Dolmen, part of the particularly successful duo Knutsen & Ludvigsen (Knutsen was Dolmen's stage name), as reggae . With this recording, he replaced himself at number 1 on the Norwegian charts.

At the same time he also finished his first hip-hop album under the stage name Vinni. The pre-released single Halve meg rose to number 4 in mid-April 2012, which meant he was represented with three songs in the Norwegian charts at the same time. The album Oppvåkningen was released in the fall of that year and entered the charts at number 1 .
