The Vino Versum Poysdorf ( Vino Versum Poysdorf, Wein + Traubenwelt ) is an adventure museum on the history of viticulture and wine trade with a focus on Poysdorf .

history

In 1910 there was a first folklore collection on local history in Poysdorf. In 1958 a local museum was opened. In 1978 it moved to the former citizens' hospital . In 2004 the museum was redesigned to become a wine adventure world and renamed the Weinstadtmuseum. In 2012 the area was renovated and expanded. In 2013 part of the Lower Austrian State Exhibition Bread and Wine took place here. In April 2014 the wine museum "Vino Versum Poysdorf, Wein + Grapewelt" was opened.

Buildings and areas

The area of the Vino Versum is located in the northern center of Poysdorf on both sides of Brünner Straße . It combines the former Poysdorfer Bürgerspital, an open-air area with the Ölberg chapel , vineyards and press houses as well as new buildings and the adapted corner stone house from the 19th century. Access to the Vino Versum is via the Poysdorf wine market.

Grape hall and wine cellar

In the hall, Poysdorf is staged as the city of grapes. Based on the city coat of arms with the biblical scouts , interactive stations are dedicated to the myth of grapes, supplemented by grape playgrounds for children and adults. A scout gallery shows reproductions and originals of scout representations from many epochs of art history. The history of wine trade and wine sales in inns is explained in a display case from winemaker to innkeeper. A museum cinema shows historical recordings of grape harvest and cellar work.

An underpass under Brünner Straße connects the Bürgerspital with the exhibition area, consisting of the grape hall, museum cinema and entrance area with wine market. The corner stone house, a Hauer house from the 19th century, was integrated into the new building.

Citizens hospital and outdoor area

The permanent exhibition History of a Wine Town on the upper floor of the former citizens' hospital presents objects from the collections of the City of Poysdorf, supplemented by loans related to the city's history, including the Poysdorf treasure trove from the late Renaissance period. The Barbarakapelle of the Citizens Hospital shows the two Piller monstrances from the 19th century, named after the family who founded it. The Poysdorf viticulture and the importance of wine for festivals and customs in the city are the theme of the ground floor. An entire room is dedicated to the history of the Winzerfest , the largest wine festival in the region, which has been celebrated in Poysdorf since 1928.

The Bürgerspital is surrounded by a large outdoor area with historical trees and a show vineyard. Gardeners from the museum village of Niedersulz have laid out a Weinviertel farm garden.

The winemaker's work is presented in the outdoor area. A grape variety vineyard with high and stock culture , accessible press houses and wine cellars explain the work in the cellar. The Wottle press museum has been set up in a converted longitudinal barn and shows the technical development of press construction over the past 100 years. A historic forge, a carriage shed with typical wine wagons and a clay bowling alley complete the area.

Special exhibitions

There is an approximately 100 m² special exhibition area on the ground floor of the Bürgerspital.
