The Alive Festival was a music festival that took place once a year in the summer from 1995 to 2005 in the Belgian Eifel . The open-air event has been leading internationally known musicians and bands to the German-speaking community of Belgium for many years .
history
The Alive Festival was initially held from 1995 to 1998 at the Schützenhalle in Meyerode . From 1999 it took place in various locations in the municipality of Sankt Vith . From a contemplative one-day event in the early years that only attracted a few hundred spectators, the festival quickly developed into a regional size that attracted many thousands of people every year. In terms of style, the organizers made a change over the years from a more hardcore and grunge-oriented program to a significantly greater variety and mass suitability, so that ultimately pop , rock and electro acts can be seen and heard on the festival stages were heard. The first big name was presented at the fourth edition of the Alive Festival in 1998 with the band H-Blockx . Numerous other stars, especially in German-speaking countries, but also some world-famous stars, followed. B. Heather Nova , Die Toten Hosen , the Guano Apes or Iggy Pop . After its eleventh edition in 2005, according to the organizers, the festival should initially only have a one-year break. The reason given for this was the massive increase in artist fees, which would make the festival virtually impossible in its previous form. Ultimately, however, the festival was not revived in 2007 or in subsequent years.
