Virginia Field (* 4. November 1917 in London , England as Margaret Cynthia Field , † 2. January 1992 in Palm Desert , California ) was a British actress .

Life

Virginia Field was the daughter of the Chief Justice of Leichester and was related to Robert Edward Lee through her mother . Field learned acting in England and Vienna with Max Reinhardt . In 1934 she made her screen debut in The Primrose Path . David O. Selznick brought her to the United States for a supporting role in his 1936 film adaptation of The Little Lord . Field, who was under contract with 20th Century Fox, became known in the Mr. Moto crime films since 1937 at the side of Peter Lorre . Alongside Vivien Leigh and Robert Taylor , she appeared in Her First Man in 1940 . Field was later mainly seen in television productions and increasingly withdrew into private life from the mid-1960s. Most recently she was in a guest role in the series Adam-12 in 1975 .

Virginia Field has a star on the Walk of Fame (1751 Vine Street). She was married to Paul Douglas from 1942 to 1946 . The marriage produced a daughter. After the divorce, she was married to Howard Grode from 1947 to 1948 and to her fellow actor Willard Parker from 1951 until her death . Virginia Field died of cancer at the age of 74.
