Russula subsect. Viridantinae is a subsection of the genus Russula , which is within the Viridantes section. Bons subsection Viridantinae is not identical to Romagnesi's section of the same name.
features
The subsection contains medium-sized to robust and fleshy pigeons that develop mycorrhiza exclusively with conifers. The fruit bodies have a typical herring or crab smell and taste completely mild. With iron sulfate, the meat turns green and with aniline it turns orange to copper-red within a few seconds. The spore powder is cream to ocher yellow in color. The cap skin contains pileocystids which are only weakly stained with sulfobenzaldehyde, acid-resistant incrustations do not occur. The hats are usually red or purple in color and often play in a brownish tone.
Bons subsection does not correspond to the Romagnesi section of the same name. This also contains the species from the Pascuinae and Xerampelinae subsections .
