history

The Football Club AlzanoCene 1909 was founded on July 25th, 1909 in Alzano Lombardo , a city with now about 14,000 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy . Initially the club was called FBC Alzano and spent many years in the lower divisions of Lombard football. A number of name changes followed, only the name FC Alzano , chosen in 1945, lasted a little longer.

In 1946, FC Alzano made its first appearance in Serie C , the third highest Italian division. However, you could not stay there and were relegated after a year. This was followed by many years of regional football in Alzano Lombardo, and it wasn't until 1996, exactly fifty years after the last promotion to the third division - this was now the C1 series . While in the first year the relegation could only be prevented by winning playout games against AS Livorno , the team grew beyond itself in the following season. The team of coach Claudio Foscarini , which has been playing as Alzano Virescit since 1993, finished the Girone A of Serie C1 in 1998/99 in first place with a lead of five points over Como Calcio , which marked the first-time promotion of Alzano Virescit to Serie B , Italy's second-highest Football league, meant. They played a respectable season there, scored 45 points and in the end just barely had to go back to Serie C1. Third last, three points were missing to the rescue bank occupied by AC Pistoiese .

After relegation from Serie B, Alzano Virescit went down rapidly. In Serie C1 they only held out in the playout games for two years before relegation had to be accepted in 2003. Since there were considerable financial problems, the athletic one also turned into a forced relegation. Alzano Virescit was dissolved, and a re-establishment and start took place in the Prima Categoria, the second highest regional league in Lombardy. In 2007 it was renamed FC AlzanoCene in 1909 as a result of the merger with a club from the neighboring town of Cene . A year later, AlzanoCene returned to Serie D , but had to relegate it in 2014 after losing relegation games against ASDC Borgomanero . From 2014 to 2015, FC AlzanoCene played again in the fifth-rate Eccellenza Lombardia in 1909, but rose again to Serie D. The merger with Aurora Seriate followed in summer 2015 .
