As an active player he played for the teams of FBC Treviso , Atalanta Bergamo and Piacenza Calcio . As a coach, Foscarini coached, among others, Alzano Virescit , AC Rimini 1912 and AS Cittadella for a total of ten years . Foscarini has been the US Avellino 1912 trainer since 2018 .

Player career

Claudio Foscarini was born on November 19, 1958 in Riese Pio X in Veneto . He learned to play football in the youth department of Calcio Montebelluna , where he later also spent the first four years of his career as an adult player. In Montebelluna Foscarini, who acted in the position of a midfielder, was active from 1975 to 1979 and played a total of 79 league games with four goals for the club during this time. Then Foscarini went for two years to the regionally more important club FBC Treviso , then in the third-class C1 series . In Treviso , the midfielder made 60 league games with five goals in two years from 1979 to 1981 and always achieved midfield placements in Serie C1.

From 1981 to 1984 Claudio Foscarini was then under contract with Atalanta Bergamo . The traditional club had fallen deep and at the beginning of Foscarini's activity found itself only in the third highest division. But in the three years spent Claudio Foscarini as a player at Atalanta, the club is a steep climb and the consequent return to the experienced Serie A . After the third division championship of 1982 you could establish yourself in Serie B and occupied an eighth place in the table as a climber. The following year, Nedo Sonetti's team took first place in the second division, one point ahead of Como Calcio . The return to the top Italian division was perfect. Claudio Foscarini was only a substitute at this point, came in just four games in the promotion season and then left Atalanta Bergamo in the course of the 1983/84 season. The rest of the season he was then briefly under contract with SSC Campania , only to be involved in Piacenza Calcio for two years the following summer . In Piacenza Foscarini made 60 league games, scored three goals and moved to Virescit Boccaleone in the summer of 1986. Claudio Foscarini played there for five years until 1991 before he ended his active career as a football player at the age of 33.

Coaching career

After the end of his active football career, Claudio Foscarini became a coach. In this role he worked from 1991 to 1993 at his last club as a player, Virescit Bergamo, as a youth coach. From 1993 to 1994 and 1994 to 1995 he was the head coach of two amateur clubs in the Bergamo region . In 1995 he returned to the youth department of the association, which had meanwhile merged into Alzano Virescit, and worked there for two years. In 1997, Foscarini took over as coach of the first team from Alzano Virescit and caused a sensation with the club during his four-year tenure. In his second season at Alzano Virescit, Claudio Foscarini led his team into Serie B for the first time ever in the club's history by taking first place in the Girone A of Serie C1 with five points ahead of Como Calcio . In Serie B 1998/99 , Alzano Virescit could not continue this success story and only managed to leave the two teams of AC Savoia 1908 and US Fermana behind, which resulted in direct relegation. As a relegated Alzano Virescit played a disastrous season in the C1 series and had to fight relegation in playout games. There you were defeated by the AC Reggiana and had to go into the fourth division. Claudio Foscarini was relieved of his duties during the season.

After Foscarini had looked after Rimini Calcio in the fourth division from 2001 to 2002 , he moved to AS Cittadella in 2003 , similar to Alzano Virescit in the nineties, an up-and-coming club from northern Italy. After two years as a youth coach in Cittadella , Foscarini took over the position of coach of Rolando Maran's first team in the summer of 2005 . After Cittadella had already spent two years in Serie B from 2000 to 2002, Claudio Foscarini led the club back to the second division with a third place in Girone A of Serie C1 2007/08 and then won playoff games against the US Cremonese . There they managed to stay up in 2008/09 as a climber with seventeenth place, only to play the most successful season in the club's history the following year. A sixth rank in the 2009-10 Serie B enabled the AS Cittadella to participate in the play-offs for promotion to the Serie A . Unfortunately, they failed in the semifinals against Brescia Calcio . After it was drawn after the two legs, Brescia only got ahead because of the better placement in the regular table. In the years that followed, Cittadella did not get such strong placements again, the club leveled off in the lower midfield of Serie B. Nevertheless, Claudio Foscarini managed to establish the provincial club in the second division. At the age of ten, Foscarini was by far the longest-serving training provider in Italian first and second division football in 2015. After the end of the 2014/15 season , however, Cittadella had to move into the third- tier Lega Pro , and Foscarini then resigned from his post as the club's trainer.

After seven match days of Serie B 2015/16 , FC Pro Vercelli fired their coach Cristiano Scazzola and installed Claudio Foscarini as his successor. In 2016, however, Foscarini left the club and became the coach of AS Livorno . The collaboration there was also ended in 2017. Since April 2018 he has been the trainer of the US Avellino 1912 .
