Virtusa Corporation ( NASDAQ : VRTU) is a globally active, publicly listed service company in the consulting and information technology (IT) sector based in Westborough near Boston , USA .

Virtusa offers customer solutions and services in business process management , enterprise content management , enterprise mobility , data warehousing , business intelligence , enterprise resource planning and business consulting for companies and software providers . Virtusa is a partner of global software providers such as IBM , Microsoft , SAP , Pegasystems , Open Text and Oracle . The company, which was founded in 1996, has additional locations in New York, London, Munich, Amsterdam, Chennai and Hyderabad (India) and Colombo (Sri Lanka).

history

Virtusa was founded in 1996 as a software development company under the name “Software Solution”. In 1997 Software Solutions was renamed “Technology Providers International” and increasingly dealt with outsourced, object-oriented software design and development services. In 1998 the company opened its headquarters in Westborough, Massachusetts and was launched on the American market under the name Technology Providers Inc.

In 2000, during the e-commerce trend, Technology Providers International was renamed again. From now on the company was called "eRUNWAY Inc." and offered eBusiness, Internet software development and system integration services. Ultimately, eRUNWAY was relaunched on April 22, 2007 as Virtusa Corporation. The name Virtusa is derived from the Latin word "virtus" (excellence). Virtusa went public on August 3, 2007 and has been listed on NASDAQ (“VRTU”) ever since.

On November 5, 2009, Virtusa announced that it had acquired InSource, a technology consulting firm specializing in insurance and healthcare. InSource is based in Hartford, Connecticut, USA and employs approximately 50 people. In February 2010 Virtusa took over the US-based ConVista Consulting LLC. The company will open a new location in September 2010 in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad. Since 2011 Virtusa has also been active in Germany (Virtusa Germany GmbH) and Austria (Virtusa Austria GmbH).

  • 2008: Finalists for the US Secretary of State's Award for Corporate Excellence
  • 2009: Announced the acquisition of InSource, a consulting firm specializing in technology
  • 2010: Announced the acquisition of LLC, previously privately held and a leader in finance, with a focus on transformations in the financial sector.

Charitable commitment

The company has launched an educational program in which it makes its IT skills available to specific collaborative projects, such as: B. Virtusa enabled the provision of IT rooms in 50 schools in the Uva Province in Sri Lanka. The project was implemented together with the local university in Sri Lanka. After the 2004 tsunami , workers actively participated in the development of Sahana, an open source disaster relief project.
