# 22 AJ Foyt IV in the 2007 season

The team was founded in 2005 from the remains of the closed racing team Kelley Racing . The only driver in the debut season was Ed Carpenter , stepson of Tony George. The performances were rather modest and did not come close to the victorious predecessor team.

In the 2006 season Tomas Scheckter was the second driver and the results were significantly better. A third car with Townsend Bell for the Indy 500 , however, could not qualify. In the 2007 season, the team was then expanded to three cars for the entire season with AJ Foyt IV . A fourth with Davey Hamilton was added to the Indy 500 .

For the 2008 season, Scheckter left the team to switch to the newly founded Luczo Dragon Racing racing team. The other drivers, including Hamilton's guest start at the Indy 500, were retained; Paul Tracy also contested the Edmonton race for the team.

In the 2009 season, Ed Carpenter was the team's only continuous rider. In addition to him, Ryan Hunter-Reay was used in the first six races. Carpenter achieved second place in the race at Kentucky Speedway, the team's best result in this series to date.

At the beginning of 2010, Vision Racing withdrew as an independent team, but by the end of the season it cooperated with Panther Racing in four races , each time with Ed Carpenter. It has not appeared since.

Other racing series

In addition to its involvement in the IndyCar Series, the team was also active in the Indy Pro Series junior series in 2005 ; However, most of the drivers used at the time did not reappear in higher racing series. For 2009 Vision Racing returned to the series, now renamed "Indy Lights". The only driver, James Davison , ended up finishing second in the championship.

In addition, there have been repeated appearances in the Grand-Am series throughout the team's history .
