Vito Roberti
Vito Roberti (born September 11, 1911 in Matera , † August 1, 1998 ) was an Italian Catholic clergyman, archbishop and diplomat.
Life
Roberti was ordained a priest on December 23, 1933. He was a minutant in the Papal Secretariat of State. John XXIII appointed him on October 13, 1962 as Apostolic Delegate in Rwanda and Congo and titular Archbishop pro hac vice of Constantia in Scythia . The episcopal ordination received his Amleto Giovanni Cicognani on 2 December of the same year; Co- consecrators were Giacomo Palombella , Archbishop of Matera, and Giulio Barbetta , Titular Bishop of Pharan . He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . In addition, in 1963 he became Apostolic Nuncio of Rwanda , Congo and Burundi . On August 15, 1965, he became Archbishop of Caserta and held the office until 1987.
