Vittorio Dan Segre

Vittorio Dan Segre (born December 4, 1922 in Rivoli , † September 27, 2014 in Turin ) was an Italian - Israeli diplomat , journalist and author .

Life

Segre fled Mussolini's fascists to Palestine in 1939 at the age of 16 . There he joined the British Army during the Second World War . After the war he worked as an Israeli diplomat, including as the Israeli ambassador to Madagascar .

After leaving diplomacy in the mid-1980s, Vittorio Segre worked as a journalist and professor for international relations in Israel and Italy. During this time he wrote two autobiographical novels: Story of a fortunate Jew and Story of a failed diplomate (2003). Among other publications, he published the war novel La guerra privata del tenente Guillet .

Vittorio Segre lived and worked in Lugano and Turin.
