Vittorio Sandalli (* 1957 in Rome ) is an Italian diplomat .

Career

In 1977 Sandalli became an officer in the Italian Air Force , where he was promoted to the rank of captain while serving in Italy and abroad. After obtaining a law degree from La Sapienza University in 1985, Sandalli joined the Foreign Service in 1990, where he initially worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the General Directorate for Management and ICT and in the General Directorate for Human Resources. He later held posts at the embassies in Lusaka ( Zambia , 1992-1995), Ankara ( Turkey , 1995-1998) and Maputo ( Mozambique , 1998-2000). Back in Rome, Sandalli became Head of Office III of the General Directorate for Human Resources. In 2003 he was appointed Consul General in Johannesburg ( South Africa ) and finally from 2007 to 2011 he was the Italian Ambassador in Tbilisi ( Georgia ).

Back in Rome, Sandalli was deputy director for the internationalization of the state system and territorial autonomy in the general directorate for state development. Since November 16, 2015, Sandalli has been the Italian ambassador to Indonesia and also accredited for East Timor and ASEAN .
