Vlastimil Bubník (born March 18, 1931 in Kelč , Czechoslovakia ; † January 6, 2015 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak football player and ice hockey player and coach .
Life
Between 1957 and 1960, Bubník wore the jersey of the Czechoslovak national football team eleven times. He scored a total of four goals, one of them against France in the game for third place at the 1960 European Football Championship in France, which the ČSSR won 2-0.
However, he became famous as an ice hockey player. Here he played as a striker for SK Královo Pole Brno (1949–53), Rudá hvězda Brno (1953–66) and TJ Vítkovice (1966–68). There he was national champion eleven times and played 320 games in which he scored 300 goals. He then moved to Austria for three years at VEU Feldkirch . He played in nine world championships and four Olympic Games (1952-64). Here Bubník won silver at the World Championships in 1961 and bronze in 1954 and 1963 . He won the Olympic bronze at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964.
After his career ended, Bubník worked as an ice hockey coach at Zetor Brno and HK Jesenice .
