The mountain Vlhošť (German Wilschtberg ) (614 m) is the highest point of the Daubaer Schweiz ( Kokořínsko ) in northern Bohemia ( Czech Republic ). The base of the mountain is made of sandstone , the summit area of phonolite ( Klingstein ). The structured rock terraces made of ashlar sandstone are striking. In 1998 the summit and the rocky areas on the southwest side were placed under nature protection as a nature reserve on 78 hectares.

Location and surroundings

The Vlhošť is located 10 km southwest of the city of Česká Lípa ( Bohemian Leipa ). Immediately at the western foot is the village of Hvězda ( Star Village ). In the south, the rocky forest areas of Daubaer Schweiz with the well-known rock formation Husa ( goose ) spread out. To the east lies the striking mountain Ronov ( Ronberg ), which is already part of the Bohemian Central Uplands . Towards the north is the wide valley of Bobří potok with the Holanské rybníky ( Cave Ponds ) area.

view

A view is only possible from the rock terraces on the southwest side. From there, your gaze wanders over the nearby village of Hvězda ( Sterndorf ) to Ronov ( Ronberg ) with the striking castle ruins and on to the Bohemian Central Mountains .

Paths to the summit

  • A yellow- marked local hiking trail leads around the mountain , which connects to a blue- marked path from Dubá ( Dauba ) to Zahrádky ( Neugarten ).
  • The best starting point is the small village of Hvězda. For the loop around the mountain on the above-mentioned path, you then need about 1.5 hours.
