Vocalive is a mixed pop and jazz choir from Griesheim ( Hessen ).
history
The ensemble was founded in 1991 by Stefanie Miceli as the youth choir of the Frohsinn e. V. in Griesheim and has since developed from a youth choir to a pop and jazz choir. Vocalive consists of around 60 singers.
repertoire
Vocalive 's repertoire includes rock and pop classics, musicals , modern gospel and jazz . It ranges from Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody to Bästa Vänner by the Swedish singer Lena Philipsson to an arrangement of a fugue originally composed for the organ by JS Bach . Some arrangements , such as a James Bond medley , were specially written for Vocalive.
The choir is usually accompanied by a three-piece band (piano, bass, drums).
Appearances and awards
In addition to full-length, pure vocalive programs, there are more and more appearances with befriended vocal ensembles. A special feature is the collaboration with the magician Nicolai Friedrich at the When the Angels Sing concerts, which take place annually in winter. Vocalive is integrated into the stage program, partly as a background choir, partly as part of the tricks themselves.
Vocalive took part in the German Choir Competition 2006 in Kiel, where it achieved the best placement in the category in the jazz vocal et cetera category - with accompaniment and a second prize. On June 7, 2007 Vocalive appeared in the ZDF show Grand Prix of Choirs and took 11th place. By winning the Hessian Choir Competition in 2009, the choir qualified for the German Choir Competition 2010 in Dortmund, where it won first prize in the jazz vocal et cetera category . At the 9th German Choir Competition in Weimar in 2014, VOCALIVE gave a concert as a guest choir in the evening supporting program at the invitation of the German Music Council .
On June 29, 2014, VOCALIVE took part in a competition of the Hessian Singers Association as part of a choir festival in Giessen and was awarded the Gold Diploma in the 2014 Hessian Singers Association as the category winner. VOCALIVE also received the special award from the Hessian Prime Minister for the highest score in the competition, the best interpretation of the compulsory piece and a special award for the best groove .
Choir director
The choir is led by Stephanie Miceli from the start. The trained choir teacher leads other choirs and ensembles. Stephanie Miceli is the initiator and director of the choir factory , which started operations in January 2007.
Solo collections
Many members of Vocalive are also active as soloists, as singers or as instrumentalists. The Solo Collections, which are brought to the stage once or twice a year, form a common platform for this. A CD with the highlights of the Solo Collections was released in May 2007. The last time the Solo Collection took place was in October 2013.
