Vojtěch Martínek
Vojtěch Martínek (born April 11, 1887 in Braunsberg , † April 25, 1960 in Ostrau ) was a Czech writer, prose writer, poet, literary critic and publicist.
He studied Czech and German at the Philosophical Faculty at Prague University and then worked as a teacher at the secondary school in Ostrava, was a dramaturge at the local theater and chairman of the Moravian Circle of Writers ( Moravské kolo spisovatelů ).
Works
His literary work is wide-ranging. He belonged to the ruralists and intellectuals who represented critical realism. In his novels he describes the national and social changes in the Ostrava region during industrialization.
Martinek started out as a poet influenced by Josef Svatopluk Machar .
