Brušperk (German Braunsberg ) is a town with 3658 inhabitants in the Czech Republic . It is located 9 km northwest of the town of Frýdek-Místek at 265 m above sea level. M. on the Ondřejnice and belongs to the Okres Frýdek-Místek .

geography

The city is located in north-east Moravia in the Ostrava pan on the edge of the Ostrava metropolitan area . Neighboring towns are Trnávka and Kateřinice in the west, Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí and Krmelín in the north, Staříč in the southeast and Fryčovice and Ptáčník in the south.

In the city center there are mostly baroque houses. In 1992 it was proclaimed a Czech city monument.

history

Brušperk was founded in the 2nd half of the 13th century when the area was settled by the Olomouc bishop Bruno von Schauenburg . The first written message ( Brunsperch ) dates from December 6, 1269 . However, the corresponding list has proven to be a forgery from later times. The parish church of St. George has been traceable since 1305.

Along with other communities in the area, it belonged to the center of handicrafts, especially cloth manufacturing.

  • Vojtěch Martínek (1887–1960), Czech writer, organizer and representative of cultural life in the Ostrava region. His interests were primarily the theater, radio and journalism.
