history
In 1305, the first mention of the village of Jannutha took place in the registers of the diocese of Breslau . 1327 Jannutha or Jamnice was in a document of Duke Kasimir III. von Teschen referred to as oppidiscum municionibus with a festival located above the old trade route from Moravia to Teschen . After the fortress was expanded to form the lordly Friedeck Castle, the new town of Friedeck was built near Jamnice around 1340 , to which the trade route was relocated. It is assumed that Jamnice is identical to Staré Město, but proof of this has not yet been provided.
From the spin-off of the Friedeck rule from the Duchy of Teschen in 1573, the old town belonged to the Friedeck rule until the middle of the 19th century.
From 1850 Altstadt / Staré Město formed a municipality in the Teschen district. From 1908 the place belonged to the Friedeck district. After the Second World War, Staré Město was assigned to the Okres Místek and came to Okres Frýdek-Místek in 1961 after its dissolution . In 1979 the village was incorporated as Frýdek-Místek 5-Staré Město into the twin town of Frýdek-Místek. In 1990 the Staré Město commune was re-established. Staré Město has had a coat of arms and a banner since 1998. The consecration was carried out by the bishop František Lobkowicz.
