history
The first written mention of the village of Krmelyn , which belongs to the Paskov feud, took place in 1447. In the past there was a break for the carters on the way from Mährisch Ostrau to Braunsberg , Hochwald and Altendorf . At the same time, the springs on the Kermeliner Berg were known for their good drinking water. After the establishment of the Paskov rule by Johann von Pernstein in 1538, Krmelín belonged to this without interruption until the patrimonial rule was abolished .
In 1850 the political municipality Krmelín / Kermelin was established in the Mistek district, to which the districts Světlov / Lichtenberg and Světlov / Althof belonged. In 1896 the community was assigned to the Moravian Ostrau district. In 1895 the construction of a church had started. A short time later, the construction work was stopped because the damage caused by a major fire in the village had to be repaired as a matter of urgency. In 1900 the church was finally completed. In the last days of the Moravian Ostrava operation , Krmelín was captured by the Red Army on May 2, 1945 after heavy fighting. The church was ruined by 14 shell impacts. The German troops had previously built a line of defense at the church. Between 1945 and 1946 the church was rebuilt and enlarged. After the Second World War, Krmelín came to Okres Ostrava-okolí and since 1961 the village has belonged to Okres Frýdek-Místek. Krmelín today consists of 617 houses.
